In order to continue to get to know the members of the Greater Chicago INS; each of the board members and committee chairs will write a little something about themselves as part of our "Member Spotlight". Then we will randomly pick chapter members, so that we all can get to know each other better.
As for me and my story, I will start at the beginning. I grew up in a small town in rural Iowa and found my love of health care while working as a nurse's aide at nursing homes throughout high school and college. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with Biology and Chemistry degree and moved to Chicago shortly after graduating. After doing some soul searching about what I really wanted to do when I grew up; I decided to get my nursing degree. I enrolled and graduated from the Accelerated Nursing Program at Rush College of Nursing in 2006.
My nursing background primarily includes working in Labor and Delivery and Home Health. I currently am working at an Infusion Pharmacy, in which it still amazes me how much I learn each and every day. The ever changing world of infusion nursing and home infusion nursing is fascinating to me. From the technology, to the medications, to the amazing patients I get to interact with daily; I honestly cannot imagine doing anything else.
I am excited to be a part of the Greater Chicago INS and work with everyone to build this chapter into a success! Here's to a great year!
