A Note From Our Speaker...
I want to thank the Greater Chicago INS Chapter for sponsoring last weeks' event. Sue and I are very passionate about our mission work and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to share with such a wonderfully attentive audience. True to the spirit of nursing reflection, sharing and service are pillars of mission nursing. Hopefully, you all saw that "missions" can be next door or across the globe. They can be for a friend in need or a complete stranger. They can be random acts of kindness or a well planned trip. Whatever it may be please share your experience and passion, it is catching!
For those of you who do not know Sue Silverstein and I met when I responded to her email about starting a local INS Chapter here in Chicago. Sue was elected our first president and I was the program chair. Through the course of our involvement with GCINS we became aware of how much we had in common. As a matter of fact the couple who planned my first mission trip went to the same church in prior years! And the rest as they say is history. Out of our mutual passion for nursing, infusion and mission work has grown a valuable friendship that I feel grateful and blessed for every day. And last week brought everything full circle as we presented Nursing in the Mission Field.
